Women in Construction Week Feature - Maggie Hoogs, Ohana Home & Design

1) What is your job title?
To be totally honest, I don’t love job titles because they can feel limiting. At Ohana, I’m involved in all facets of the business, and my responsibilities constantly evolve with the times, our team, and my passions. My role requires me to be creative, detail-oriented, task-focused, and most of all - happy. I wear many hats, and I love that no two days look exactly the same.
2) What do you love about remodeling?
So. Many. Things.
Every day is a new adventure. There’s always a lesson to be learned, a human story to understand, and a design waiting to be discovered. The lives we touch and the people we connect with, for each portion of every project, make this career deeply satisfying and rewarding.
There are so many moving parts within every renovation project. Each person, each detail, each moment comes together to create something new and exciting. Watching that transformation unfold never gets old.
3) Why is it important for women to be a part of the industry?
Women bring strength, knowledge, and perspective to any industry.
Our industry requires strong commitment, attention to detail, emotional intelligence, and extensive communication; all qualities many women naturally excel in. We approach projects holistically, believing it is important to consider not just the structure itself but also how it will feel, function, and support the people who live there.
In construction and remodeling, where projects demand both precision and vision, that perspective is priceless and ultimately leads to more thoughtful, well-executed spaces.
