Certified Lead Carpenter

Program candidate: A Certified Lead Carpenter (CLC) is a hands-on field pro who oversees the technical aspect of the project, including personnel management and materials flow while working on the project.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires five years of continuous full-time experience in the remodeling industry, two of the years as a full-time lead carpenter. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam on pre-construction issues, technical knowledge and special skills such as people and job management.

Certified Remodeler

Certified Remodeler Program Candidate: A Certified Remodeler (CR) is a professional remodeler who provides a full range of residential and commercial remodeling services. Candidates must prove they possess skill and knowledge in a broad range of business management and technical skill areas.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires five years of continuous full-time experience in the remodeling industry and at least 16 hours of continuing education. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam on pre-construction issues, technical knowledge and special skills such as people and job management.

Certified Remodeler Specialist

Certified Remodeler Specialist Program Candidate: A Certified Remodeler Specialist (CRS) is a professional remodeler who specializes in a specific type of work such as concrete and masonry, electrical, insulation, mechanical systems, plumbing systems and roofing and siding. The certification recognizes members who specialize in a trade and want to document their knowledge of the remodeling process.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires five years of continuous full-time experience in the remodeling industry and at least 16 hours of continuing education. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam on pre-construction issues, technical knowledge related to specialty areas and special skills such as people and job management.

Certified Remodeler Associate

Certified Remodeler Associate Program Candidate: A Certified Remodeler Associate (CRA) is a professional in a supporting profession such as architecture, design, manufacturing, supply chain and consulting. The certification recognizes members that specialize in a trade and want to document their knowledge of the remodeling process.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires five years of continuous full-time experience in the remodeling industry and at least 16 hours of continuing education. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam pre-construction issues, technical knowledge and special skills such as people and job management.

Certified Remodeler Project Manager

Certified Remodeler Project Manager Program Candidate: The Certified Remodeler Project Manager (CRPM) professionals are the field personnel who oversee every aspect of the project: customer satisfaction, personnel management, project schedule, administration, etc.

Requirements: Candidates must have a combination of five years continuous experience in the remodeling industry with three years as a remodeling project manager with at least 16 hours continuing education related to project management, as well as one of the following: four years continuous experience and three years as a project manager and four or more year degree in construction, project management or a construction-related field; three years continuous experience in remodeling and one year experience as remodeling project manager and Certified Associate in Project management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) credential. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam on pre-construction issues, technical knowledge and special skills such as people and job management.

Master Certified Remodeler

Master Certified Remodeler Program Candidate: Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) recognizes Certified Remodelers who have demonstrated commitment to the remodeling industry through support of their local chapter, NARI National, and/or their local community. The MCR identifies Certified Remodelers who continue to be successful within the industry.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires being holding the Certified Remodeler designation for at least 10 consecutive years and attaining another NARI certification. Individuals must prove involvement with their local NARI chapter as a committee member, chair, board member or officer, and/or involvement as a leader in the local community. Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from their chapter executive or chapter president or three letters of recommendation from recent clients.

Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler

Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler Program Candidate: A Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) is a professional who provides remodeling services specific to bathrooms and kitchens. Candidates must provide they possess skills in more than 20 remodeling task areas, including business methods and practices, building codes and construction law, kitchen and bath planning, and building site layout, and all trades skills required in remodeling your home.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires five years of continuous full-time experience in the remodeling industry, of which individuals must have completed four kitchen and/or bathrooms per year. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam on pre-construction issues, technical knowledge and special skills such as people and job management.

Universal Design Certified Professional

Universal Design Certified Professional Program Candidate: Universal Design Certified Professional (UDCP) professionals handle renovations that are appealing not only for “aging in place,” but for anybody who wishes to move about his or her home freely, without barrier and without giving their home that institutional look. Families who have members with special needs also benefit from a UDCP.

Requirements: Attaining this certification requires five years of continuous full-time experience in the remodeling industry and at least eight hours of continuing education in universal design remodeling/building related education. Successful candidates must complete the application detailing background and experience, and pass a comprehensive assessment exam on pre-construction issues, technical knowledge and special skills such as people and job management.
